| TJUNKIYA NAPALTJARRI (Tjunkiya Kamayi Napaltjarri) is a senior Pintupi woman, who was born in the desert in the early 1930s in an area north-west of Walungurru. The birth mother of known artist Mitjili Napurrula, Tjunkiya started her artistic career creating traditional artefacts, such as ininti seed necklaces in the 1970s, then moved on to painting for Papunya Tula Artists in the latter part of the last millennium. Exhibitions include: `Minyma Tjukurrpa`, 1995. `Twenty-five Years and Beyond`, 1999. `PAPUNYA TULA Genesis and Genius`, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, 2000.
