Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula  is a senior Pintupi artist, who was born in the desert around 1930 in the vicinity of Tjungimanta, north-east of Kiwirrkura. Featured in a book titled Bindibu Country (1975), this artist moved to Papunya in 1959 and began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in the 1970s before taking up residence elsewhere, but returned to painting for Papunya Tula in the early 1990s and on occasion has painted for private dealers in this new millennium.  Besides participating in numerous group exhibitions, in particular `Papunya Tula Genesis and Genius in Sydney 2000, Johnny Yungut has also had two solo exhibitions. The first was in 2003 titled `Paintings` held at William Mora Galleries in Melbourne, though this exhibition included works by the late Kanya Tjapangardi (Tjapangati), who was also a Pintupi artist.  The second exhibition was in 2004 titled  `New Paintings`, which was held at Utopia Art in Sydney.
